Empire of Estates: Drama in the Real Estate Realm 2
Part 1 of this series of short stories introduced you to the concept of working with a business coach versus a consultant.
Today, I’m so glad you’ve decided to join me for part 2 of Deb and Billy’s drama. We’ll use this part of their story to highlight the importance of hiring a realtor coach and explain how they excel at coaching realtors toward success. There’s an art to coaching real estate agents like Deb and Billy…but don’t take my word for it. Let’s see what these two are up to.
Suddenly three large, confused crows zoomed out of the window and dove straight for Billy and Deb before making a 90-degree turn and flying out of sight.
“Ah! Oh!” shrieked Deb, ducking as the crows made their surprise maneuvers.
“What The F*CK” shouted Billy, crouching alongside Deb.
“Well, at least we know it’s not squatters and the house isn’t haunted” sighed Deb as she stood then helped Billy to his feet. She really didn’t need any more bad news around this home.
The pair moved up to the porch and began plowing through their contacts and trying, unsuccessfully, to come up with a plan to have this home properly marketed and on the market for showing in less than a week.
Billy and Deb had just started their business 6 months ago and this was not the first roadblock they had encountered. Truth be told, their business foundation was shaky. They also had a lot to prove since so many friends and colleagues thought they were crazy to start their new venture in the current economy. And now they were stuck with a starlet who had a big mouth.
There was no question that their professional reputations were at stake. This ingénue had a huge presence in this town, and it looked like the sale of this home would either make or break them!
“What do we do now?” grumbled Deb. “I’m not even sure how this house is still standing. We’re supposed to be presenting this in two weeks….two…weeks! It’s just not possible. Maybe we need to look into hiring someone who knows a thing or two about coaching realtors,” she sighed with more than a little reluctance. “You know, one of those gurus who are great at coaching real estate agents and turning their business around?”
“That’s one more expense we can’t afford right now, Deb. I mean, we could always just present this home as is,” Billy said with a shrug. “After all, we didn’t build the place, we met it like this!”
“Oh yeah?” Deb said sarcastically. “You think? Sure, that makes sense. Hey, HELLO, this is the house we got for you. It gets a little cold at night since the windows don’t shut, it feels a bit haunted inside, and the crows can get a little loud in the evenings, but it has good bones!”
Deb had already assured the client that they could deliver and that, since she and Billy were partners, the client was getting two agents for the price of one. There was no question that losing this client could mean losing their entire business. They had to close this deal as if their lives depended on it because, in all honesty, it probably did.
They were in a tough spot and it was about to get tougher. As Billy continued looking through his contacts, Deb noticed a nondescript car pulling into the drive next door and watched as two men emerged from the vehicle. They had cop written all over them.
Deb closed her eyes and groaned, “Well… Shit.”
Deb and Billy have fallen victim to a common real estate snare—in an attempt to close the deal they’ve overpromised…and this is a situation where hiring a real estate coach could help. An experienced coach has the skill to coach realtors through client interactions and help them learn to set clear boundaries. By hiring a real estate coach, Deb and Billy will learn how to pre-screen clients to weed out potentially problematic buyers and learn how to set boundaries with and educate the clients they choose to keep.
Coaching real estate agents requires the finesse and skill held by an experienced professional and, contrary to Billy’s opinion, hiring a real estate coach is often an investment worth making. But let’s see how things shake out for Deb and Billy in Part 3.
Stay tuned!
